Go to 'Catalog’ in the left-hand side menu

Select ‘Categories’

Press the plus icon to expand the category hierarchy until you reach the level you want to create the new category/subcategory for

Select the category you would like to create a subcategory under

Press the 'Add Subcategory' button

Fill in the main details of the new category:
6a | Enable Category | Set this to 'Yes' to make this category/subcategory active |
6b | Include in Menu | Set this to 'Yes' to have this category/subcategory visible on the website in the navigation |
6c | Category Name | Enter a category name |

Expand the 'Display Settings' tab
Step 8
Uncheck the 'Use Config Settings' to choose a sorting option from the dropdown to sort the products in the category by default (e.g. price)
Step 9
Expand the 'Search Engine Optimisation' tab
Step 10
Enter a URL that matches the category name
Step 11
Expand the 'Products in Category' tab
Step 12
Use the 'Name' or 'SKU' fields to search for the products you want to add to this category/subcategory

Tick the checkbox to add the product to the category/subcategory

Expand the 'Design' tab
Step 15
Set 'Use Parent Category Settings' to Yes

Press 'Save'

The new subcategory should now be visible on the left-hand side
