Using Speakable’s audio features requires microphone and speech recognition permissions. Follow the instructions below to enable access on iOS Safari, Chrome Desktop, and Chrome Mobile.

Update! In January 2025, Speakable released a native mobile application for students using iPads and iPhones. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.
Enable Microphone Access in Safari
Open Safari and navigate to the Speakable app or website
Tap the "AA" icon in the address bar
Select "Website Settings"
Set Microphone to "Allow"
Reload the page to apply changesEnable Speech Recognition in iOS Settings
Open the Settings app
Go to Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition
Find Safari and toggle it onTest the Features
Return to Safari and test audio recording and speech recognition in Speakable

Open Chrome and go to the Speakable app or website
Click the lock icon next to the URL in the address bar
Select "Site settings"
Find Microphone under the Permissions section and set it to "Allow"
Reload the page

Tap "Permissions"
Set Microphone to "Allow"
