Guide: Reviewing Student Submissions

Speakable makes it easy to review student submissions, give feedback, and finalize scores.

Here’s how to manage and assess work across Practice and Assessment assignments.


Accessing Submissions

  1. From your Classroom, go to the Assignments tab.

  2. Select an assignment to view the Review page.

  3. Toggle between Board, Matrix and List view, each view will offer you different options.

    1. Board: Gives you an overview of the entire class, submissions that Need Review, submissions Reviewed and Not Submitted.

    2. Matrix: You'll be able to see each student in a table with the activities inside the assignment with their response.

      It will provide you at the student row an overview of their performance, the status of the assignment (Finalized, In Progress or Not Started)

    3. List: You'll be able to see each student, their performance on the assignment, time of submission, the status of the submission and review, their total score and, comments about the assignment you added or want to add.

Reviewing a Student's Work

Click a student's name to see their full submission.

You can adjust scores, leave comments, reopen the assignment, or give full credit.

Once you click in any of the student responses they may include:

  • Audio playback

  • Transcript and grammar insights

  • Score details

  • Feedback

  • Chat history

  • Score


Reviewing by Question

From the List View:

  • See overall class performance per prompt.

  • View:

    • Success rate

    • Number of submissions

    • Responses

Click into any question to review individual student responses, adjust scores, and see their proficiency level.


Leaving Feedback

Every response includes a chat history. You can leave your own feedback:

AI Feedback appears to students based on assignment settings.


Adjusting Grades

You can update grades at any time:

  • Use the increase/decrease next to each response to change the score. If you're using a rubric, find the increase/decrease, next to the score for each criteria.

  • Click Give full credit to assign full points

  • Click Reopen to allow a student to redo the Assignment
