Zapier + Specter API Guide

Connect Specter to 7,000+ apps with your own Zap, on any schedule you choose.

Written by Azher Rashid Hussain

Specter lets you push fresh signals into any of Zapier's 7,000+ connected apps including Slack, Google Sheets, your CRM, and more, on a schedule you control. Instead of a fixed weekly delivery, you build a simple two-step Zap that calls the Specter API directly, so you decide exactly what flows and how often.

Before you start

You'll need a Specter API key and a Zapier account. Generate or copy your key from the API Console. Treat the key like a password anyone who has it can access your Specter data.

Why use the API?

  • Flexible scheduling - choose any cadence (hourly, daily, weekly), not just the fixed weekly push of the legacy app.

  • Full coverage - pull Talent Signals, Investor Interest Signals, company data, and anything else in the API reference, straight from the source.

Step 1: Create a Zap on Zapier

Log in to your Zapier account and click Create Zap.

Step 2: Set the schedule

  1. Click on Trigger button

  2. Choose Schedule by Zapier as your trigger.

  3. Trigger Events: Choose Frequency including Every Day, Every Hour, Every Month

  4. In the configure step, select what Time of Day the Trigger should start the scheduled event.

  5. Click Continue, Test Trigger

  6. Your Schedule is setup

Step 3: Call the Specter API

Add Webhooks by Zapier as the next step. This is what calls the Specter API and pulls your signals.

Specter API Key

To get your Specter API, go the the API Console and Generate API key.

Webhooks

Once the API key is generated follow the steps below to setup the Webhook

  1. Click Action Button and select Webhooks

  2. Click, Action Event and select GET and click on Continue

  3. In the Configure step do the following:

    1. URL: Paste the API endpoint which you are interested in

    2. For example if I am interested in getting Talent Signals saved Search results -> use this endpoint

    3. In the Headers Box

      1. Box on the left paste X-API-Key

      2. Box on the right paste your API-Key

  4. Click on Continue, Click on Test Step

  5. Click on Publish

For a list of all endpoints available please check the API Docs

Step 4: Send your data anywhere

Add a final step for whatever you'd like to do with the results.

For example add rows to a Google Sheet, create or update records in your CRM, post to Slack, trigger an email, and so on.

Map the fields from the webhook response into that app, then Publish.

You're Live!

Your Zap now pulls Specter signals on your chosen schedule and sends them wherever you need. Adjust the schedule, the endpoint, or the destination anytime from Zapier. Any endpoint in the Specter API reference works with the same two-step pattern.
