Many Android phones have very capable hardware, and in theory it should be possible to run Spinsight on them. However, to utilize advanced camera capabilities, many vendors use proprietary software that is not available or supported for third party developers like Spinsight. In practice, we are often left with only basic camera functions, which is not enough to run Spinsight measurement. But some Android smartphones manage to provide sustained high speed video at reduced resolution at enough quality that the measurement works well enough to use it for training.
Due to the restrictions mentioned above we cannot provide a fully working App for Spin Measurement on Android. Each Android smartphone needs individual testing as the performance characteristics differ and can degrade with age or system updates.
We cannot guarantee that it will work on your device. If you are comfortable with sideloading software to your android phone and understand that this comes without any official compatibility, you can try it by joining our "SPINSIGHT beta Android" google Group: https://spinsight.com/app/experimental/getting-started/
We have a development version for Android in Closed Beta that works on some smartphones. Users have reported success with:
Samsung Galaxy S8-S24
(FE models are problematic; S23 is problematic; S24 only with most recent OS updates)
Google Pixel 6-9
(6a/7a models are problematic)
Other manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Huawei are usually problematic.
Please follow the steps in the Android "Getting-Started-Guide" and test whether your Android phone is compatible.
*Mention: For best experience and measurement quality we always would recommend to use a supported iPhone.
