What do the individual measurements (spin/speed/spin effect, power) mean?

Live measurement of spin (rps) and speed (km/h) as well as the two derived parameters, spin effect and power value, are at the heart of digitally supported training with the Spinsight app.

The feedback on these four parameters helps to evaluate the quality of the stroke and to train in a targeted manner. The quality of the stroke must always be interpreted in relation to the intention of the use and all other parameters.

Overall Stroke quality parameters:

  • Spin (rps): revolutions of the ball per second up to 150 currently

  • Speed (km/h): Speed of the ball

  • Placement*: Point of impact of the ball on the table

  • Flight height*: Flight height above the net or trajectory

Derived parameters of stroke quality:

  • Spin effect: The ratio of spin to speed

  • Power (km/h): Total speed of the ball (spin or rotational speed + speed or movement speed)

*(not yet integrated into the app measurement)
