Spiral Breath+ offers 12 harmonic tones, 9 of which are Solfeggio frequencies. The Free plan includes two harmonic tones: 528 Hz and 174 Hz.

The harmonic tones

Solfeggio frequencies:

• 174 Hz — Ground
• 285 Hz — Renewal
• 396 Hz — Liberation
• 417 Hz — Change
• 528 Hz — Transform
• 639 Hz — Heart
• 741 Hz — Expression
• 852 Hz — Intuition
• 963 Hz — Transcend

Additional harmonic tones:

• 40 Hz — Focus
• 432 Hz — Harmony
• 888 Hz — Abundance

Free: 528 Hz and 174 Hz.

Spiral Breath+: all 12 harmonic tones.

You can also choose None if you prefer to practise without a harmonic tone.

The harmonic tones use binaural stereo audio and their level changes with the breathing cycle.

The infrasonic layer — Spiral Breath+ only

Spiral Breath+ includes an optional second frequency layer beneath the main harmonic tone.

There are seven options:

• 3 Hz — Delta
• 4 Hz — Theta
• 5 Hz — Theta
• 7.83 Hz — Schumann
• 10 Hz — Alpha
• 18 Hz — Beta
• 40 Hz — Gamma

The infrasonic layer is optional and can be used alongside the main harmonic tone.

A frequency you can't find in the menu

Exercises imported from an Architect platform can contain frequencies from an extended set that are not available in the standard picker.

These frequencies can be preserved and played as part of the imported exercise even though they do not appear as selectable options in the menu.

Voice guidance

Spiral Breath+ uses pre-recorded voice guidance rather than your iPhone's text-to-speech system.

The current version has one spoken language and two voice options.

Free:

• Default voice
• Spoken phase names

Spiral Breath+:

• A second voice option
• Spoken countdown numbers within each breathing phase

The visual countdown is available on both plans.

Why there isn't a separate sound for every breathing phase

This is intentional.

Spiral Breath+ does not use separate sound effects to mark every inhale, hold and exhale. During a session, audio guidance comes from the continuous harmonic tone, when selected, together with the voice guidance.

Anchoring also includes an ambient audio layer.

The iPhone silent switch

Spiral Breath+ session audio can continue playing when your iPhone's ringer is set to silent.

During a session, the app can lower other audio rather than stopping it completely.

Haptics

There is no separate haptics setting inside Spiral Breath+.

A confirmation haptic can occur when a session finishes and when you save an exercise.

To control system haptics on your iPhone, use:

Settings → Sounds & Haptics

Do I need headphones?

You do not need headphones to use Spiral Breath+ or complete a breathing session.

However, headphones or stereo earbuds are recommended when using the harmonic tones because the tones use binaural stereo audio.

Binaural presentation relies on separate audio signals being delivered to the left and right ears. Headphones or stereo earbuds provide that separation.

Without headphones, you can still follow the breathing practice, hear the voice guidance and use the other session features, but you will not receive the intended binaural stereo presentation.
