How do I use Splice Bridge?

Here's how to connect Bridge, adjust samples by BPM and key, and get them into your DAW.

Splice Bridge links your DAW to the Splice desktop app so the samples you preview automatically match your project’s tempo and key.

Splice Bridge must be installed through the Splice desktop app before you can use it. See How do I install Splice Bridge? for instructions.

Connect Splice Bridge to your DAW

  1. First, make sure you have the Splice desktop app open and are logged into an account with an active Splice subscription.

  2. In your DAW, add Splice Bridge as a plugin to a MIDI track in your project. Bridge automatically links your DAW to the Splice desktop app.

  3. In the Splice desktop app, look at the link icon in the bottom-right corner. When Bridge has connected successfully, the icon turns blue:

To preview samples in the Splice app independently of your project, click the link icon to disconnect Bridge. Click it again to reconnect.

Preview samples in time with your project

With Bridge connected, samples you preview in the Splice desktop app automatically match your project’s tempo.

If your DAW is playing or recording while you preview, the sample preview syncs to your DAW’s metronome in real time.

Match a sample to your project’s key

  • With Bridge connected, select your project’s key in the Splice desktop app. Every sample that includes key data is automatically pitch-shifted to match.

  • You can also adjust the pitch of a sample manually, using semitones:

Time-stretch a sample

You can also time-stretch a sample to half speed or 2x speed:

time-stretch controls set to 1/2x in Splice desktop app version 5.4.3.1.

Preview loops and one-shots with Bridge

  • Loops: sounds classified as a loop repeat continuously until you click the stop button.

  • One-shots: To preview one-shots in time with the tempo of your project, click the note repeat button, and turn the repeat option on. From there, you can select how often you want the one-shot to repeat, from every 16th note to every 4 bars:

Note repeat option set to 1/4 note in the desktop app (version 5.4.3.1.)

Add the sample to your DAW

Once you find a sample that fits your project, you can add it in either of these ways:

  • Drag and drop the original sample from the Splice desktop app into your DAW.

  • Copy the modified sample. Click the Copy modified sample button on the bottom menu bar to copy the sample to your clipboard with your pitch-shift and time-stretch changes intact, then paste it into your DAW:

Please Note: Modified samples can only be used by clicking Copy modified sample and pasting directly into your DAW.

If you haven’t purchased the sample yet, you can purchase it directly in the Splice desktop app.
