How to integrate Splotch with Fireflies

In this article, you will learn how to integrate the Splotch AI diagramming app with Fireflies.

Updated yesterday

What is the Fireflies-Splotch integration?

The Fireflies-Splotch integration automatically converts systems, processes, and implementation plans discussed in meeting conversations into diagrams. It eliminates the need to manually create diagrams to create alignment among meeting attendees.

Along with the diagram, Splotch will create a linked text description of the process. As you gather input from your stakeholders, edit either the diagram or the text to develop the diagram so it reflects the latest status.

How to integrate Fireflies with Splotch?

  • Log in to Fireflies and click integrations.

  • Search for Splotch and select it.

  • Then click “Go to Splotch”.

  • Next will be asked if you already have a Splotch account. If you do, you can connect it to Fireflies. If not, you can receive five sample diagrams so you don’t have to sign up for Splotch without testing it.

If you already have a Splotch account

  • If you click “Yes” on the screen above, you will be asked to authenticate your Splotch account to grant Fireflies permission to send meeting transcripts to Splotch to create diagrams in a dedicated Splotch project.

  • After the authentication succeeded (either because you logged into an existing account or you created a new trial), you’ll have to click “next” and you will be asked to enter the API key.

  • From the moment you click “Save API key” every meeting transcript will be sent to Splotch to create a diagram from the central topic discussed in a meeting provided that topic was about

    • systems & solutions

    • processes and

    • implementation plans.

And if that topic was discussed back and forth a bit, it will settle on whatever seems to be the consensus that was reached.

  • After each meeting, it might take up to 30 minutes for a new diagram to be created since we have to check on the Fireflies server twice an hour to see if new meeting transcripts are there.

If you don't have a Splotch account yet

  • If you don't have a Splotch account yet, you have two options:

    • Either you create a Splotch account first and then set up the integration.

    • Or you sign up to just receive 5 sample diagrams for the time being without having to sign up.

    • In this scenario you will need to copy an API key from the Fireflies settings from and provide your email to Splotch.

  • After you click “Get Sample Diagrams”, Splotch will create a first sample diagram from the last meeting you recorded with Fireflies before connecting both apps and send you a link to it via email. The diagram will summarize the central topic discussed in your meeting.

  • After each meeting, it might take up to 30 minutes for a new diagram to be created since we have to check on the Fireflies server twice an hour to see if new meeting transcripts are there.

  • After receiving the 5 sample diagrams (or at any point really), you can decide if you want to set up a trial account on www.splotch.ink. There you will be able to use this feature for free for as many meetings as you want for up to 14 days. Only then you will need to decide whether you want to purchase a paid plan of Splotch.

Things to note / frequently asked questions:

  • Any meeting that lasts less than 5 minutes will not be transcribed by Fireflies and as such will also not create any diagram.

  • If you have a meeting where Splotch struggles to identify a process, system, solution or implementation plan and cannot create a diagram for you, Splotch will send you an email letting you know of the same. In that scenario you still can copy/paste any text you want to turn into a diagram in the app or even on the website to try to generate a diagram that way.

  • If you are not signing up for a Splotch trial or already have a Splotch account, please make sure that the same email address you used during your test of the Fireflies-Splotch integration, is the same that you are using on Fireflies.

  • You can disconnect Fireflies from Splotch any time.

    • If you have a login to Splotch, go to the main menu > integrations. You can disconnect the app there. All diagrams and the project canvas will be deleted.

    • If you don't have a login for Splotch, you will find a disconnect & unsubscribe link at the bottom of the emails that Splotch sends you. All diagrams and the project canvas will be deleted and you will be unsubscribed from any future email communication from Splotch.
