Interested in a cargo or eBike but you've never used one? Perhaps you've got a heavy load that you need to take down to the recycling centre? Or a bunch of children that need moving?

Never fear, you can now rent out eBikes and eCargo bikes from selected Spokesafe Hubs.

How do I book a bike rental service?

To make a booking, simply log into the Spokesafe app and press the Bike Rental button. This will take you through a flow where you can choose your location, bike type, and pick-up date/time.

If your location doesn't currently have this service we'll note down your interest and try & get a scheme up & running as soon as possible - this service should be at every parking facility in the country.

What vehicles can I rent out?

This depends on the individual facility and location partner, but there is normally a range of both standard eBike and then more advanced cargo bikes. For instance, at the Colchester Secure Bike Park the vehicles are a Raeligh eBike, Riese & muller Multicharger (which is a similar to a standard eBike but with more storage space), Bakfeit long eCargo bike (traditional larger cargo bike), and a Riese and Muller Load 75 eCargo bike (larger cargo bike useful for carrying children or shopping).

If you head to our locations page and choose your facility, you'll be able to see if this service is in operation and the bikes on offer.

Why do I have to complete an induction to rent out a bike?

At certain locations, to get approval for the service all users must complete a short in-person induction. If this is your location this will be specified during the process and you won't be allowed to book a bike until this is completed.

How long is a bike rental?

We offer a variety of different rental durations, and these options will vary depending on the specific location. At the Colchester Secure Bike Park, options range from less than hours, to a 4+ hours (at which point you can use the bike for a full day). We don't currently offer multi-day rentals.

How much does a bike rental cost?

This will vary from location to location and depend on our specific partner. However, at Colchester Secure Bike Park the pricing is:

  • 0-2 hours - £3.00

  • 2-3 hours - £4.50

  • 3-4 hours - £6.00

  • 4+ hours / Full day - £10.00

At Colchester New Town Hub, the only option is a full day and this costs £10.

How do I access the vehicle?

Once you have completed your booking full access instructions will be emailed to you and be available within the "Help" section of your booking ticket.
