This guide is for parents and legal guardians of SportsGravy players under the age of 18. Platform: SportsGravy mobile app.
The core model
In SportsGravy:
Each parent or legal guardian has their own account, with their own first and last name, email, and mobile phone number.
Your child has a player profile associated to your account — no separate signup, no separate email or phone required by default.
You can manage everything about your child from your own account. Your child does not need to sign up — and in a lot of cases cannot, because every SportsGravy account requires a unique email and a unique mobile phone number.
What you can do from your account
As the parent of a player profile, you control:
Schedule, team associations, and registrations
Name, date of birth, avatar, and other profile details
Receive coaching feedback shared with your child
Posts, content, and recruiting activity on their behalf
View notifications, messages, and updates related to your child
To open a player profile, go to the Family tab under Connections in the mobile app and tap your child.
The optional "Invite Your Kid" step
From your child's player profile, SportsGravy offers the option to invite your child to have their own SportsGravy account. This is optional, and most parents of younger kids will skip it.
Only send the invite if both are true:
Your child is old enough to engage with their team on their own device
Your child has their own unique email address and mobile phone number
If either isn't true, leave your child as a player profile under your account. That's the intended default for younger players, and nothing about their team participation depends on them having their own account.
Parental control is maintained either way
If you eventually do invite your child to activate their own account, you still retain full parental oversight. Sending the invite simply gives your child their own way to sign in — it does not give up your control as their legal parent or guardian.
Common questions
Do I have to invite my kid? No. It's entirely optional. Skip it if your child doesn't have their own email and phone, or if you prefer to manage everything from your account.
My child wants to use SportsGravy on their own phone. If they're old enough and have their own email and phone, send the invite from their player profile in the Family tab. They'll get an invitation to set up their own account, and you'll still have parental oversight.
I need to correct my child's name, date of birth, or other info. You can update most fields directly from their player profile. If a field is locked, contact your organization's admin or SportsGravy support for a manual correction.
Both parents want to manage the same child. Both parents can have their own accounts and each manage the shared child's player profile from the Family tab.
My co-guardian shows as "Connection Pending" in my Family tab. SportsGravy has sent them an email invitation but they haven't activated yet. Once they activate, the pending status clears.
