How Messaging Works — Default Team Chats and Group Communication

How team and training program messaging works in SportsGravy, including the default group chats you're added to.

Written by Niko Polydorou

Every team and training program on SportsGravy has a set of default group chats. When you're rostered, you're automatically added to the chats that match your role.

Default group chats on every team

  • Entire Team Chat — everyone on the team (all roles)

  • Staff Chat — coaches and managers

  • Coaches Chat — all coaches

  • Managers Chat — all managers

  • Parents Chat — parents, coaches, and managers

  • Players Chat — all players

Training programs work the same way.

Which chats you're in

You're automatically added to the chats that apply to your role. For example:

  • A parent is added to the Entire Team Chat and the Parents Chat

  • A coach is added to the Entire Team Chat, Staff Chat, Coaches Chat, and Parents Chat

  • A player is added to the Entire Team Chat and Players Chat

Common questions

  • "I'm not in a chat I expected to be in." Chat membership is based on your role on the team. If your role is wrong, contact your coach or organization admin.

  • "I'm not receiving messages." Make sure push notifications are enabled for the SportsGravy app on your phone and that you've accepted your team invite.
