"Role" means two slightly different things depending on the app. In the SportsVisio app it's a personal preference that tailors what you see. In SportsVisio Manager it's a permission that controls what you're allowed to do in a given program.
In the SportsVisio app: your role choice
During onboarding you pick one of these, and you can change it later:
Player: "Get game stats, stat-based video clips, track progress and see season averages."
Coach / League Manager: "Manage your team, scout opponents, follow teamsâŚ"
Fan: "Follow leagues, teams and players."
To change it, open Account and tap Choose my role.
This choice tailors your experience in the SportsVisio app. It does not grant manager permissions. Being able to upload video or edit rosters is controlled separately in SportsVisio Manager (see below).
In SportsVisio Manager: permission roles
What you can do in SportsVisio Manager (SV Record) is governed by program-scoped permissions. Roles are per program: you can be an admin in one program and a viewer in another. Here's what each role can do:

Buttons you don't have permission for are hidden, not greyed out. So if you don't see a New game button, a Start Upload button, or the + to add a team, your role in that program doesn't include that action.
If you're a viewer (for example, a parent following a team) and you want to upload a game, create a team, or invite people, you'll need an admin or coach on that program to do it, or to give you that role.
Good to know
Billing and members are web-only: there's no such screen in either mobile app. Manage those at stats.sportsvisio.com.
Roles apply per program, so check the specific program you're working in if something you expect is missing.
Why can't I see this?
If a button or menu item is missing in SportsVisio Manager, it's almost always a permission gate, your role in that program doesn't include it. Ask the program's admin or coach for access. If no program, season or division is selected yet, some pages show an empty state instead. Pick one from the side menu first.
