Reading the shot chart and heat map

Read the court zones, and tap a shot to watch the clip.

📍 Where to find it: Open a game → Game Summary → Shot Chart tab / Heat Map tab

🔒 Who can do this: requires basketball only (not volleyball).

The Shot Chart and Heat Map are visual tabs on a game's Game Summary that show where shots and action happened on the court, not just the totals in the box score.

The Shot Chart

The Shot Chart plots each shot at the spot on the court where it was taken:

  • Makes and misses are marked so you can see shot selection at a glance.

  • The court is divided into zones, so you can read zone shooting efficiency: how well shots went in from each area (for example, at the rim vs. from the corners vs. beyond the arc).

  • Tap a shot to watch its clip: the video moment of that shot. This ties the chart back to the actual game footage. For more on playback, see Watching games.

The Heat Map

The Heat Map shades the court to show where activity was concentrated, brighter or hotter areas mean more happened there. Use it to spot where a player or team is most active on the floor.

Why don't I see this?

The Shot Chart and Heat Map are basketball-family features (Basketball and Basketball 3x3). Volleyball doesn't have a shot chart. The app shows a volleyball-specific game summary instead. If you're looking at a volleyball game, these tabs won't appear, and that's expected.
