In a Sprout gallery, your client (or anyone viewing a gallery) can select their Favorites. A favorite submission is simply a collection of images that your client has indicated as ones they like the most. You could have your client submit favorites to indicate which images they'd like for you to design their album with, for example.

How your client picks their favorites

While viewing a gallery, your client can click the "Favorite" button below each image to add that image to their favorites. You can also favorite each image on the thumbnail of the image.

If that is the first time they're adding an image to their favorites, they'll be prompted to enter their email address to save the favorite submission. In the future, your client can enter their email address to retrieve a favorites submission.

How your client views their favorites

While in their gallery, the "Favorites" button in the top-right corner of the gallery will indicate how many images your client has added to their favorites. Your client can click the "Favorites" button to view only these images.

How your client submits their favorites to you

By default, favourite submissions in a gallery are automatically saved. When your client favourites their first image in a gallery, they're asked for an email address. Every other image they favourite will be automatically saved to that submission.

Your client can filter their gallery to show just their favourites by clicking the "Favourite" button in the top-right corner. They can manually submit their favourites to you by clicking the "Send to Photographer" button. At that point, you'll receive an email and an in-Sprout notification, if you have them turned on. Your client will also receive an email confirmation, if you have it turned on.

You can now optionally turn on the automatic submission of favourites. In Settings > Business & Branding > Preferences, you can toggle the "Automatic Favourite Submission" button.

When you have automatic favourite submissions turned on, your client doesn't have to click that "Send to Photographer" button in their gallery to submit their favourite images. Instead, as soon as they leave their gallery, it will be automatically submitted to you.

When you are filtering your client favourite submissions in the back-end of Sprout Studio, there's a tag next to each submission that indicates its status.

The favourite submission will show an "Auto-Saved" tag next to it when your client has favourited an image (or images) but hasn't submitted them yet. This likely means that the favourite submission is still a work-in-progress.

The favourite submission will show a "Submitted" tag next to it when your client has either:

  • Manually clicked that "Send to Photographer" button.
  • Left their gallery, and you have "Automatic Favourite Submissions" turned on.

This toggle gives you control over what your client has to do. If you want them to manually click that "Send to Photographer" button to know they're done with their favourites, you can. Keep "Automatic Favourite Submissions" turned off (that's the default). If you want their favourites to be automatically submitted once they leave the gallery, then turn that toggle on.

How you view the favorites submitted to you by your client

Favorite submissions are organized in the collection dropdown in a gallery. While editing a gallery, in the "Photos" section, click the collection dropdown (by default, it says "Showing: All Photos").

Click the "Favorites" button to view a list of all the favorite submissions, and click on an individual submission to view just those photos. You can also click on the "i" button to view more details about that specific favorite submission.
