Locked Tickets.

How to create hidden tickets that can be unlocked with special codes.

Updated this week

How do I create locked tickets?

With Stager you can sell special tickets in the ticket shop, which can only be seen after a code has been entered. This could give a special discount, or perhaps these tickets go on sale before the regular tickets. It works as follows:

Go to Settings - Ticketing - Ticket types and create a new ticket type. Give it a suitable name such as 'Secret ticket' and select 'Locked' for the use in the ticket type selection menu.

In the Event - Tickets tab of an event for which you want to set up a promotion, you will see the created ticket under 'Locked Tickets'. Enter the price, save the page and select 'Create codes' to create one or more codes.

How do I generate codes?

While creating locked tickets, you can choose whether to create one or multiple codes.

Select Generate automatically if you want Stager to generate codes automatically. Then enter how many codes you want to generate and how often each of those code can be used. Check the Mark as shared box if you want these codes to be marked as ‘shared’ in the overview of all generated codes, so they are not sent twice to other people.

How do I manually configure one code?

Select One code manually if you want to create one code that can be used once or multiple times. This option is useful if you want to set up a discount code around a campaign, such as a code like SummerSale10. You then set which code you want to use and how often this code can be used. Check the checkbox if you are going to send the code right away, so it won't be sent twice.

How do I adjust sales settings & sharing?

Click View details to adjust further sales settings, such as sales period or availability at the door of your event.

If you scroll down on this page, you will find an overview of the locked ticket codes created. You click on one of the codes to display details such as which persons have used the codes, when the codes were used and the corresponding order numbers.

You then distribute this promotion code to potential visitors with the message that by entering this code, they can get discounted tickets to the event. Check the box under Shared if you have shared the codes, so they will not be sent twice. You copy the code including textual explanation and a link to the ticketshop via the copy button next to the checkbox.

In the ticket shop, the customer clicks on the event and there they can enter the promotional code received. The locked tickets then become visible.

The promotional code is case sensitive. Also be careful not to accidentally paste a space before or after the code, as this will make it look like the code is not working.

How do I create email locked ticket codes?

You create locked ticket codes directly in the Stager mailer. This allows you to quickly share unique locked ticket codes to a large audience.

Make sure there are locked tickets available before creating an email to send out locked ticket codes. Sending out locked tickets via email can be done in these three steps below:

1. Create an email

First make sure there are locked tickets available at the door in your event. Then go to Marketing - Mailings and create a new email. In the mailer drag & drop the 'Locked tickets' component to your mail so you can enter the details.

2. Set it up

In the component for locked tickets you always start with selecting the correct event. You'll only see events with locked tickets available. Next you select the correct ticket type and choose if you want to let Stager create codes automatically or if you create your own ticket code.

Add the number of uses per code per recipient. This sets the number each code can be used. Each recipient receives one code, so this can be used per code per recipient.

It is optional to add a description. This is for internal use and can give a description of the group the code is shared with for example. You also have the option to add extra text to the email. This is shown to the recipient and can be used to add more explanation or encouragement to buy tickets.

3. Send the email

After adding all the details, submit the component to your mail. Finish your mailing and send it to your audience. Every recipient receives their own code they can directly use to buy locked tickets.
