Here is the full updated App settings article:
App settings
The App settings page is where you configure how product titles appear on your storefront when a customer selects a variant. There are two things to set up here — your title template and your product option display settings.
Customize product titles
This is where you define the structure of your product title using dynamic variables. The template you set here determines what information appears in the product title on the storefront whenever a customer selects a variant.
A hyphen ( - ) is automatically added between elements in the title by default. If you would like to use a different separator — such as a pipe ( | ), a slash ( / ), a colon ( : ), or even just a space — you can request this from our support team and we will set it up for you.
Available variables
{product_title}— the main product name as it appears in Shopify{variant_name}— the full selected variant, which is a combination of all option values. For example, if a variant is Red, XL, and Floral, the{variant_name}variable will display all three values combined. However, if one of the options — such as Pattern — is unchecked in the Product option display settings, it will be excluded from the variant name. So in that case, the title would show "Red XL" instead of "Red XL Floral"{option1},{option2},{option3}— the individual variant option values. Shopify supports up to three options per product, so these three variables map directly to those three option slots. The value displayed will depend on the product being viewed — for example,{option1}might be Color on one product and Size on another{SKU}— the Stock Keeping Unit of the selected variant{product_vendor}— the brand or supplier name{product_type}— the product category
These are the variables currently available in the app. Additional product properties are on the roadmap and will be added in future updates. If there is a specific variable you need that is not listed here, reach out to our support team and we will consider it for a future release.
Example A template set to {product_title} {variant_name} would display as "Samsung TV 55 inch 2025 Model" when that variant is selected, and update to "Samsung TV 65 inch 2026 Model" when the customer switches to a different variant.
You can combine any of the variables above to build a title that gives your customers exactly the information they need to make a confident purchase decision.
Product option display settings
This section lets you choose which product options are included when the title updates on the storefront. Your store's product options — such as Color and Size — are listed here, each showing how many products they apply to.
Check the options you want to include in the title and uncheck the ones you do not. For example, if your products have both Color and Size options but only Color is relevant to show in the title, you can uncheck Size to keep the title concise and focused.
This setting also affects how the {variant_name} variable behaves. If a variant is Red, XL, and Floral but Pattern is unchecked here, the variant name in the title will display as "Red XL" rather than "Red XL Floral" — so only the options you have enabled will appear as part of the variant name.
Unchecking an option here ensures customers only see the most relevant details in the title, avoiding information overload.
Share online store password
If your Shopify store is password protected, you can share your store password with the Variant Title King support team here. This allows the team to access your storefront and provide better support when troubleshooting issues.
Your online store password can be found in your Shopify admin. A link to find it is provided directly on this page.
