What are Prep Materials?
Prep materials are any links or materials that your players need to participate in your game.
Examples of Prep Materials include:
Discord server link
D&D Beyond campaign link
Foundry server link
Lines and Veils checklist link
Documents players need to read before the game
β
Why are Prep Materials required?
If your players don't have their prep materials, they can't participate in your game.
Ex: If a player never get the link to the Discord server where you host your games, there is no way for them to join the game.
It is up to you as the GM to make sure your players have what they need to start playing.
Before the session, ensure that all links in the prep materials are active and functioning properly. Share the materials with players in advance to give them time to review and resolve any issues, such as broken links or missing information. Encourage players to reach out if they encounter difficulties and provide a clear communication channel (e.g., email or Discord).
Best Practices for Prep Materials
Provide Links in Advance: Share all required resources like Discord invite links, server details, or session notes with your players ahead of time.
Verify Resource Accessibility: Test all links and documents to ensure they function, avoiding delays or confusion during the game.
Encourage Early Player Review: Ask players to check the provided materials as soon as possible to allow time for resolving any issues.
Remain Accessible: Include a direct way for players to contact you, such as an email address or instant messaging link, to address last-minute concerns efficiently.
Are Prep Materials publicly visible?
Prep Materials are only shown to players who are booked in your game. β
Players browsing the website can't see your prep materials. β
Where do I add my Prep Materials?
