We make it easy to get you paid. Once you have signed up for an account and filled out your profile, you need to set up a Payouts Account. We use Stripe to handle our payment processing to you the Game Master and from players coming to the site who are booking games. They are one of the most secure payment gateways on the internet.
How much are GMs paid and how do payouts work?
All GMs on the site get to set their own rates and schedules, and StartPlaying takes 10% from the bookings on the site. Once you have set up your PayOuts account you can deposit your balance directly to your bank account. It takes around 2-3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) for it to show up in your bank account. If you are an international GM (outside the U.S.) it can take 7-11 business days. If it is your first PayOut ever, it takes around 5-7 business days.
When will your players be charged?
Players are charged at the start of the session automatically. If you need to cancel your session, make sure you do so before the start time or your players will be charged.
24 hours after players are charged you will see payment arrive in your payout account.
My Players Payment Failed, now what?
This often happens when a player's card declines the transaction for any number of reasons. When this happens, we note the failed payment on your PayOuts dashboard. We also send an email to the user prompting them to update their payment info for the session that failed. Players can use the link in the email or navigate to their past sessions in their Adventures dashboard to update their payments. Any past adventure with an "Update Payment" button on it had a failed transaction. Players will need to update payment for every session that failed, as the system does not update their payment method for every session automatically. If you the GM are having an issue with a player's payment and need SPG to recoup the session cost because of non-communication, please feel free to reach out to support and we will get you taken care of. Please be aware that you won't see the failed payment update to now say paid, instead, you will see a new transaction come through saying that it is a reprocessed payment of the past transaction as shown below.
