OhmConnect launched two-factor authentication, or 2FA, for all users in early 2020. This important release helps keep your account and information safe.
What is two-factor authentication?
Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of protection beyond a password.
Two-factor authentication is pretty common: you've probably encountered it on Google, Facebook, Apple, Twitter and many other sites. It works a little differently for each site.
At OhmConnect, when we detect a login attempt on a device or browser that you've never used before, we require you to enter a code that we send to the email address or cell phone associated with your account. This extra layer of security helps prevent someone from getting into your account even if they have your password.
Do I have to enable two-factor authentication?
Nope! This feature is live for all users.
Okay, I'm on board. So, how does two-factor authentication work at OhmConnect?
When you sign into your OhmConnect account on a new browser, computer, or mobile device, you'll see a message that asks you to send a code to either the cell phone or email address associated with your account.
Choose which method you want, and we'll automatically send you a six-digit verification code. Once you retrieve it, you can enter it on the next screen.
Enter the code and you're done!
