This article contains constraints that deal with GPAs. There are several different types of GPAs within Stellic, which you can read more about in our article on Understanding GPAs Within Stellic.

In a nutshell, there are three primary types of GPAs: program GPAs (pGPA), which is a GPA calculated by Stellic for all of the courses that fall within a program; or requirement GPAs(rGPA), which is calculated by adding in a constraint for that requirement. The final type of GPA is the cumulative GPA (cGPA), which we receive directly from institutions and is not a calculation done by Stellic. Other GPA-related constraints may be found within the non-course constraint, which is a constraint that houses custom constraints for institutions upon request.

The constraints are listed at the top and bottom of the article, with the bottom of the article containing more details about each constraint.

Constraint Details

Hide the program GPA [Secondary Constraint] [Program Level Constraint]

  • The program GPA calculates a GPA for courses that fall within that particular program only. Adding this constraint hides the PGPA. In the example below, you can see that there is no PGPA next to the progress bar for this minor.

Must maintain program GPA of at least [x] [Secondary Constraint] [Program Level Constraint]

  • This constraint does not mark the program as completed unless all requirements have been completed and the program GPA is equal to or greater than the GPA specified.

Unused matched courses are also accounted in the GPA [Secondary Constraint] [Program Level Constraint]

  • Can also add: Minimum (optional) - enables you to set a minimum program GPA.

  • Any course in a student's plan that was eligible for the requirement would be included in the GPA, regardless of whether it is counting for any other requirement or falling under unmatched

Must maintain Requirement GPA of at least [x] [Secondary Constraint]

  • This constraint requires that the student maintain a GPA of above or greater to the specified amount for that specific requirement. In the example below, the student must have a 2.0 GPA for the upper division requirement, which is calculated separately from the rest of the audit.

Compute GPA for this requirement [Secondary Constraint]

  • This constraint will calculate a custom GPA for the courses in the requirement.

Compute GPA for this requirement with courses taken in/after [Year][Term] [Secondary Constraint]

  • This constraint is the same as the one above, but allows for restrictions on the year/term of the student, resulting in an even more customizable GPA.

Exclude this requirement from the program GPA [Secondary Constraint]

  • This constraint should be used when you want to exclude a certain requirement (like the General Education requirement) from the program GPA.
