Why some hedging settings aren’t ideal

The Stoic app lets you select the hedging: that’s the percentage of the portfolio that will be kept in USDT as a hedge for a possible market correction.

For smaller portfolios, there is a technical upper limit to the hedging due to Binance’s minimum order size.

For example, the algorithm might aim to rebalance by trading 30 different crypto assets, putting just 1% in some of the assets. If you set your hedging too high (say 80%), then 1% of the remaining balance would be less than Binance’s minimum order. As a result, Stoic will not be able to execute that trade and the rebalancing would be less than optimal.

To avoid any issues with rebalancing, the Stoic app will tell you if your hedging setting is not ideal for a portfolio of your size.

The light circle on the slider will show the maximum hedging that will be properly executed for your portfolio.

You can, however, still select the hedging of up to 100% (i.e. all in USDT) if you think that would work best for you.
