Adding Tags and Allergens To Menu Items

Keep customers safe and informed by adding tags and allergens to your menu items. This guide will show you how to do it in just a few steps.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Go Your Menu and Item

  1. Navigate to “Menus” on the sidebar.

  2. Find the item you want to edit and click on “Edit”

Step 2: Add Tags and Allergens

  1. Click on the “Tags & Allergens” tab right beside "Details" at the top to add allergens to this product.

  2. Select all applicable dietary tags and flags.

  3. Under the allergen search bar, you have the option to manually search for an allergen without going through the whole allergen list.

  4. By default, all allergens are marked "Free". To add allergens to the product, simply select "Contains" or "May contain" for all applicable allergens.

  5. Once done, click on “Save changes”.

Note: please see the Food Standards Agency's guidance for food businesses as some allergens are required by law to be disclosed.

On the customer-facing end, you will see these tags/flags and allergens appear in two different ways:

  • Tags/Flags appear on the main menu page, as shown here.

  • While allergens are listed in the allergens section, visible after clicking on “Allergens” below the menu item’s name
