Your eyes can get tired from creating so much content, reading, editing posts and sitting in front of a computer screen all day. With all this heavy content creation, sometimes mistakes happen. Maybe you’ve misspelled a word, forgot to add the edited version to a photo or you haven’t added the link in your caption.

So, it is important to know that editing posts after they’ve been published isn’t available on the social media channels themselves. There are restrictions as to what, exactly, you can edit. Thus, these restrictions and limitations also apply to StoryChief. StoryChief can’t overrule the limitations set by these platforms. But we do have two solution.

Let’s say you’ve just published a post to all your social media channels and you immediately realize you’ve made a mistake. Don’t worry, you can immediately unpublish your post to all your social media channels.

Solution One

Step 1: Go to social posts

Step 2: Click on the social post you want to edit

Step 3: Click on unpublish. This means the social post will be removed from all the social media channels that you've published to. You won't be able to edit the post and repost it. As this isn't possible on the social media channels themselves. So, be aware you will lose the comments and likes that post generated.

Step 4: Then duplicate the post and make the changes you want and then re-publish to your social media channels.

Solution 2

Or if you've noticed a mistake too late and your post has generated too many comments and likes to unpublish your post. You can edit the post in the channel itself. Since, if you unpublish your post it will get deleted from all your social media channels and you'll lose the analytics and insights your post generated.

Facebook

On Facebook, you’re able to edit post captions, but you can't change images and videos.

Twitter

Unfortunately - as has been widely publicized and discussed - there's no edit tweets option at the moment.

Instagram

On Instagram, just like on Facebook, you can't change the photo or video after you’ve published your content. However, you can change your caption, add or change any location tag, as well as add or delete account tags on the post. You can also add or edit your alt text tags.

LinkedIn

On LinkedIn, you can change and edit the Company Page and your personal profile text elements. But, as for other networks you can't update or edit the video or images.
