Updating Other Payment Options in Toast
This guide walks through creating and publishing a new "Other Payment Option" in Toast — used to track non-card tender types (e.g., DSP-specific payment labels, gift certificates, house accounts) separately in reporting and on receipts.
Step 1: Open Payment Options settings
From the Toast admin home screen, click Finance in the left sidebar. This opens the Finance overview (Payouts, Payments, Reconciliation, Statements).
In the left sidebar, under the RELATED section, expand Settings, then click Other payment options.
Step 2: Review the current list
This opens the Other Payment Options page, listing every non-card tender type currently configured for the restaurant.
Step 3: Start a new payment option
Click + Add. This opens the New Payment Option form with the following fields:
● Name (required)
● Description (optional)
● Show on POS — Yes/No
● Require Manager Approval — Yes/No
Step 4: Fill in the details
Enter a clear, descriptive Name. In this example, the option is named "STREAM x UBER" to flag payments coming through that channel — Show on POS is set to No and Require Manager Approval to Yes.
Step 5: Save
Click Save (top right). Toast confirms with a green "Payment option saved successfully. Publish Now." banner, and auto-generates a GUID and Number for the new payment type.
Step 6: Confirm it appears in the list
Return to Other Payment Options — the new entry now appears alongside the existing ones. Repeat Steps 3–5 to add additional options (this demo also added "STREAM x DOORDASH" and "STREAM x FANTUAN" the same way).
Step 7: Publish the change
Click Publish Now from the save-confirmation banner (or Save again from the option's detail page) to push the configuration live. Toast confirms with "Configuration published successfully," and links to the Publishing Center History if you want to verify.
Once published, the new payment option is available for use on the POS
