Managing a Client's Bank Details
Bank details for all clients are stored on their 'Person' page in Street. Their person page can be found by searching in the global search bar and clicking on their name in the People section.
From the person page, scroll down until you see the Bank Details card on the right hand side.
Adding a bank account
Clicking 'add a bank account' allows you to add a new bank account for that person, where you can choose the key bank details. The description field is for internal reference so you can easily track which account is which if they have multiple.
The 'Name on account differs to' field allows you to choose what name will display on the payment file created during the Payments to Make stage of accounting.
There are two additional options at the bottom of the bank details page that allow you to add a bank address for internal reference and a custom payment reference that will override the automatically generated reference for outgoing payments.
This is especially useful for contractors or landlords who require specific reference numbers for their jobs or payments relating to their portfolio, making the payment process smoother and more transparent.
Editing a bank account
To edit an existing bank account, click the pencil icon, where you can edit all of the details entered when adding the bank account.
By default, full bank details are obscured on screen for security reasons however you can click the 'show' icon to show the full details.
Archiving a bank account
To archive a bank account, click the orange folder icon. Archiving a bank will remove all record of that bank in their account and cannot be undone. However any existing payments using these bank details will be unaffected.
Choosing a default bank
If an owners/landlord has multiple bank accounts setup on their account, you will need to choose which should be their default bank.
Had to the Owners page and look for the Bank Details card on the right and use the 'change bank account' button to select which bank to use for that property.
Note - If you have portfolio landlords, you can also choose which bank account to use for grouped payments from their portfolio page. For more information, see our Portfolio Landlords help article.
For contractors and tenants there is no option to change the bank account used. The first bank account on record is used for payment files.
