Choosing the right type of scoring

Updated over a week ago

When you add a block, you can choose from a variety of scoring options.

We will help you choose the right type of scoring (time, rounds and reps, reps, etc.) so that your clients can enter a score that suits the type of workout.

For a workout type:

1) AMRAP

Prefer the “Rounds + Reps” format if possible (example: Cindy).

If it is a chipper, or a specific format such as Fight Gone Bad, prefer “Reps” (example: max burpees in 5 minutes).

2) FOR TIME

If your WOD has a time cap, you will have two options:

  • If the athlete has not finished the WOD, they can enter their number of “Rounds + Reps” (e.g., 5 ROUNDS FOR TIME, TIME CAP 5 min). If the athlete has finished, they will only enter their time.

  • If the athlete has not finished the WOD, they can enter their number of “Reps” (e.g., Open 19.3). If the athlete has finished, they will simply enter their time.

If your WOD does not have a time cap, you will have two options to choose from:

  • Classic mode (the shortest time comes first). (e.g., Murph)

  • Descending mode (= MAX TIME, the longest time comes first). (e.g., Max Hold L-Sit)

3) EMOM

The choice depends on the WOD :

  • For WODs with a barbell, you can choose “Weight” so that athletes can record the weight of their barbell. (e.g., EMOM 25′: Complex 1 Power Clean + 1 Front Squat + 1 Push Press)

  • The other option is to choose the “Reps” format, so that athletes can enter the number of reps performed. In this case, we recommend that you record the total number of reps, so that athletes can subtract the reps missed during the EMOM. (E.g.: EMOM 10': 12 Pull-ups every minute)
