How to: use Quiz Builder

Create self-correcting quizzes: a fun and interactive way to test your students inside or outside of the classroom.

Updated over 3 months ago

Quizzes are handy for weekend or midterm homework, end-of-topic revision and in-class test prep. The article below walks through how to build a quiz and make the most of this feature.

Build your quiz

1. Click 'Build a quiz' on your homepage to open the Quiz Builder. You can also do this from the 'My assessments' page or from any subject or topic page by clicking the '+ New assessment' button in the top-right-hand corner.

2. Choose your subject.

3. Give your quiz a name and choose the topic(s) you'd like the quiz to cover

Tip!

Hit 'Select All' if you'd like to build a quiz on the entire subject.

4. Click 'Next', and the tool will pick randomised questions from our question bank in those topics.

Review & edit your quiz

Choose how many questions to include

First, decide how long you'd like your quiz to be. We provide a few different options with varying lengths:

Replace questions

If certain questions don't suit your quiz or the subject matter hasn't been covered yet, you can click 'replace question' to get a new question inserted instead.

Unfortunately, you can't currently create your own custom question, but we hope to include that feature in the future.

Report a question

If you aren't happy with the standard of a question or think we've made an error, please let us know! You can click the report/flag icon to send us a report.

All our quiz questions are created by real teachers.

Acceptable answers & typos

On open questions (where students have to type in the correct answer), there may be multiple correct answers your students could input, or perhaps multiple correct ways to phrase/spell the answer.

Where relevant, you'll see a 'full list of accepted answers', which, when hovered over, will show you what answers your students can input and still get marked as correct.

Most of our open quiz questions also apply a 'typo logic' to your students' answers. This means if they get the answer right but misspell it within a 20-30% margin, they will still be marked as correct, so you don't need to worry about unfair marking.

Preview what the quiz looks like for a student

To see what the quiz looks like for students, click "Preview as a student"

The quiz tells students if they're right or wrong, and provides additional feedback/information so they get a comprehensive learning experience.

To share your quiz publicly with students, click 'Save' to reach the next step.

Sharing your quiz

Click "Send" to begin the process of sharing your exam with students.

Enter the class name that the quiz is for, so you can track who you've shared it with, and click 'Get share codes'.

Choose your preferred method for sharing:

  • A link to put into a message for students

  • A code for students to enter on their Studyclix home screen

  • Share directly through Teams, Google Classroom or email

Tip!

If you're already logged into Teams/Google Classroom on your device, a separate window will open when you click this option; you can share the quiz directly from there.

Viewing the results of your quiz

Check out this article on viewing and analysing your class's quiz results.

Resharing a quiz or sharing with a different class

To share the same quiz with the same or with a different class, click into the quiz and find the 'Share again' button.

Click this to restart the sharing process, where you can type in a new class name to receive a new share code/link.
