Troubleshoot: a video won't play

Get to the bottom of a video not playing

School blocking issues:

If you are accessing our website on a school device or while in school, you may experience restricted access to videos embedded on Studyclix. To resolve this issue, we recommend asking your school's IT coordinator to whitelist/allow Vimeo (where we host the majority of our videos) on the school server.

Access issues:

If you are seeing a message similar to the one below on the video you're trying to play, it indicates you do not have the necessary Boost add-on to watch the full video.

To resolve the issue, click 'Add Boost' to purchase an add-on and gain access to our entire Boost content for that subject.

If you already have Boost and are still seeing the pop-up, it may be a browser issue, in which case, please see below.

Browser/device issues:

If neither of the above seems to be causing your issue, it may be a browser or device issue you're experiencing.

Some causes of browser/device issues:

  • Outdated device/browser

  • Uncleared cache

  • Problematic browser extensions.

To address these, we recommend attempting to watch the video after:

  • Trying on a different device/browser

  • Updating the OS or browser version/app that you are using

  • Clearing your cache and cookies on your browser

  • Checking that your browser extensions are not blocking video players.
