Want your students to learn about current events? Looking to boost scientific literacy and reading comprehension skills? You can find quality climate, environment, and science articles differentiable by grade levels in News for Students.

Student news articles are sourced through our partnership with The Juice, a student-friendly news source reporting on current events with grade and reading level differentiation. Articles can be adjusted for grades 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, and 11+.

These articles are great for vocabulary building, improving reading comprehension, and helping students constructively engage with issues in the news.

How to get there

Navigate to the top of the webpage and click Explore > News for Students.

Tips for using News for Students

  • Use the search bar to search keywords or phrases.

  • Vocabulary words are bolded in the articles. Click on a bolded vocabulary word to reveal its definition(s) and pronunciation.

  • At the bottom of each article is a comprehension question. Correct answers are revealed immediately after clicking on an option.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page to find related resources to supplement your discussion in the classroom.
