Categories and Groups

What they are

Categories and groups are two ways to organize products in your project catalog.

Categories

Categories represent the trade or CSI division a product belongs to (for example, "Electrical", "Plumbing", "HVAC"). Each product can have one category. Categories can be used as filters on the Products page.

Groups

Groups are flexible labels you can apply to products. A product can belong to multiple groups. Use groups for things like building zones ("Floor 1", "Floor 2"), specification sections, or custom tags.

How to assign a category

  1. Open the Product Details page by clicking on a product.

  2. In the right sidebar, find the Category dropdown.

  3. Click it and either select an existing category or type a new one and click the + button to create it.

How to assign groups

  1. Open the Product Details page.

  2. In the right sidebar, find the Groups section.

  3. Click Add group, then select from existing groups or type a new name and click the + button.

  4. Remove a group from a product by clicking the X on its badge.

You can also assign groups in bulk from the Products page using the bulk "Add to Group" action.
