Upload and Extract a Submittal
What it does
The Upload & Extract feature lets you upload an existing submittal PDF and use AI to automatically identify and extract the products it contains. This is useful when you receive a submittal package from a subcontractor or manufacturer and want to digitize it.
How to use it
Go to the Submittals page.
Click the Upload & Extract button.
Step 1 — Upload:
Drag and drop a PDF file or click to browse and select one.
Select the trade/section from the dropdown (e.g., Electrical, Plumbing).
Toggle auto-analysis if you want the AI to automatically extract metadata like contractor name, preparing firm, and construction manager from the document.
Step 2 — Review:
The AI extracts products from the PDF and presents them in an editable table.
Review each product's name, part number, manufacturer, and description.
Edit any fields that the AI got wrong.
Remove products that should not be included.
Click Save to create the submittal with the extracted products.
Things to know
Only PDF files are supported for upload.
The AI extraction works best with standard submittal formats that include transmittal sheets and product data pages.
You can edit all extracted data before saving — always review AI results for accuracy.
