Submittal Builder Overview

Submittal Builder — your AI workspace

What it is

Submittal Builder is the chat-driven home of the platform. Instead of clicking through separate pages, you tell the Builder what you want in plain language and it does the work — finding products, building submittals, drafting quotes and purchase orders, marking up drawings, and more. Every major action in the app is available to it as a tool, so a single conversation can take a project from drawings to a finished, shareable submittal package.

How to open it

  1. Click Submittal Builder in the left sidebar (or go to /submittal-builder).

  2. Type what you want in the composer at the bottom — for example, "Build a submittal for all the L-type fixtures in the Riverside project."

  3. Press Enter to send (Shift+Enter for a new line).

Three modes

The Builder works in three modes, selectable from the mode dropdown at the top of the chat:

  • Create — start something new: a submittal, a quote, a purchase order, a product.

  • Manage — find, edit, and organize what already exists in your project.

  • Review — compare submittals to spec, summarize comments, and prepare packages for sign-off.

What makes it powerful

  • Plain-language input — describe the outcome; the Builder picks the right tools.

  • It asks when it needs to — when a request is ambiguous (which project? which manufacturer?) it shows you a quick picker instead of guessing.

  • Grab from the web — it can search manufacturer sites for cutsheets and spec data and attach them automatically.

  • End-to-end — the same chat that builds a submittal can also draft the quote and the purchase order that follow.

Good first prompts

  • "Create a submittal from these drawings" (then attach a PDF).

  • "Find a downlight that matches this spec and add it to my project."

  • "Create a quote with AI for the current project."

  • "Draft purchase orders by manufacturer for everything in this proposal."

Tip: you do not need to learn the tool names. Just say what you want — see Submittal Builder tools for the full list of what it can do under the hood.
