If the C drive on a workstation has less than 20% of its disk space available, you will see this error message when connecting to your workstation:
Your workstation's performance may be impacted if your C drive is almost out of disk space. We highly recommend keeping over 20% free to ensure your workstation is performing optimally.
There are two ways to resolve this issue:
Remove files or applications from the C drive and free up space (not recommended if you need the applications to complete your work)
Contact us to increase the size of the C drive (recommended if you need the applications to complete your work)
If you're not sure which option is best for you, please contact us.
β οΈ If you receive this error and take no action, you may still be able to use your workstation; however, the workstation's performance may be impacted.
π Do not remove any applications that you did not install on your workstation. There are several applications that are required for the workstation to function correctly. If you have any questions about removing applications, please contact us.
What is my C drive for?
The C drive is your workstation's main boot volume. It contains all required system files and application files, such as the Adobe Creative Cloud apps.
π‘ If you install additional software on your workstation, the applications should be installed on the C drive.
How big is the C drive?
The default size of each workstation's C drive is 85GB. This is usually sufficient for the Adobe Creative Cloud apps and most other programs.
If you're installing software that requires a lot of space (such as Unreal Engine, Unity, Cinema4D, etc) you may need to increase the size of the C drive in order to keep 20% of the disk space available.
If you need to increase the size of a workstation's C drive, please contact us.
How do I increase the size of the C drive?
Please contact us to increase the size of a workstation's C drive or if you have any questions about how best to proceed.
How can I check how much space is free on my C drive?
To check how much space is free on a workstation's C drive, open up File Explorer. Right-click on the C drive in the left-hand column and choose Properties.
This will open a window that provides information about the C drive. Here, you can see how much space is free on the C drive and the total size of the C drive.
π‘ You do not need to actively monitor your C drive's free space. You will be notified if a workstation's C drive does not have 20% of its space available.
