If your summary appears to be stuck or shows an error, here are the most common causes and how to fix them.
Summary stuck at 0% or "processing"
Processing time depends on the length of your audio or video file. As a rough guide:
Short recordings (under 5 minutes): typically under 1 minute.
Longer recordings: can take several minutes.
If it's been more than 10 minutes and still hasn't moved, try the following:
Check your internet connection. A weak or unstable connection can interrupt the upload or processing.
Close and reopen the app. Sometimes the UI just needs a refresh — the processing may have completed in the background.
Update the app. Make sure you're on the latest version of Summary AI.
Processing failed / error message
If you see an error, the most common causes are:
Unsupported file format. Make sure your file is in a supported format (mp3, m4a, wav, mp4, etc.). See: What file formats can I upload?
The file is corrupted or empty. Try re-exporting the file from its original source and uploading again.
The audio is silent or has no detectable speech. The app needs audible speech to generate a transcript. Background noise or music only recordings will not produce a result.
The file is too short. Very short clips (a few seconds) may not contain enough audio to process.
How to retry
If a recording has failed, you can try deleting it and uploading the file again. The
system will retry automatically using a different processing method. If the recording hasn't failed yet and is in an infinite loop, wait 24 hours. After 24 hours the recording will give you an error message and a try again button. Here you will have the chance to download the original audio file and also retry the upload.
