How do I customize my payment terminal?

This article explains how to configure settings for your payment terminals directly from your dashboard: managing tips, payment methods, users, and permissions.

Updated this week

Proper configuration is essential for streamlining your service and maximizing revenue. You can now manage your payment terminal configuration in a centralized, simple, and visual way. Whether adjusting tip suggestions or defining waiter rights, everything happens in one place.

Here is how to navigate the different configuration tabs:

1. Accessing Configuration

From your dashboard, in the Payment Terminals tab, select Edit configuration. You will access an interface divided into four main tabs: General, Payments, Waiters, and Tips.

2. General Tab: Basic Information

This tab allows you to manage the terminal's identity and its connection to your POS (Point of Sale).

  • Configuration name: Customize the name displayed on the terminal home page (e.g., "Main Bar").

  • POS connection: Enable this to automatically retrieve bill details and close tables on your POS system.

  • Delete: A button to delete the account or configuration if necessary (devices must be redirected beforehand).

3. Payments Tab: Managing Collections

Adapt the terminal's behavior to your workflow:

  • Cash payment: Enable this option to allow cash collection, change calculation, and notification to the POS from the terminal.

  • Enable refunds: Allow payment refunds directly from the terminal history.

  • Enable Concert protocol: Allows initiating payments directly from your POS. Note: This mode consumes slightly more battery as the terminal stays listening for POS calls.

  • Fast payment mode: Ideal for bars or fast food, this mode skips table selection and tip steps to speed up collection (tables are not closed automatically).

  • Print merchant receipts: Enable this option to automatically print the merchant version of the payment receipt.

  • Payment alerts (High alert): Set a threshold to be automatically notified when a payment exceeds a certain amount (e.g., €100 / £100).

4. Waiters Tab: Team Management and Permissions

Manage your staff's access and secure sensitive actions.

  • List of waiters: Add or remove members (Waiters or Admins).

  • Request authentication: Enforce identification (PIN code) to use the terminal, ensuring every sale is assigned to the right person.

  • Permissions by role: A clear table allows you to tick authorized actions for each role (Guest, Staff, Waiter, Manager, Admin).

    • Example: Allow or disallow refunds, access to full history, or accepting payments on a table assigned to another waiter.

  • Sensitive actions: Secure certain operations (like refunds) by requiring code confirmation.

5. Tips Tab: Boosting Revenue

Configure the tipping screen to encourage customer generosity.

  • Tipping models: Choose from predefined models:

    • Optimized: Maximizes tips (recommended option).

    • Standard: Versatile and all-purpose.

    • Fast: Fewer choices, straight to the point.

    • None: Disables the tip request.

  • Amount suggestions: Define displayed suggestions (in % or currency) for "Good", "Great", and "Amazing" levels.

  • Rounding: Enable optimized rounding or the "Add 1" proposition to simplify the customer's choice.

  • Do not collect without bill: A safeguard to avoid asking for tips if no bill is linked to the transaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are changes immediate? Once you click Save on your computer, the configuration is saved but not yet active on your terminals. To apply changes, you must press the Synchronize button directly on each payment terminal.

  • What is the difference between "Optimized" and "Standard" tip models? The Optimized mode proposes suggested amounts to encourage customer generosity, while the Standard mode presents a more classic interface with neutral options. The goal of the optimized mode is to simplify the customer's choice to increase tips received by your teams.

  • Can I have different configurations for different terminals? Yes, you can create specific configurations (e.g., one for the "Bar" with fast payment mode, and one for the "Floor" with the full experience).
