Pause Betting, Self-Exclusion and Bet Limits

Take Control of Your Play: Pause Betting, Self-Exclusion and Bet Limits at 2UP

Gaming should stay a form of entertainment, never a financial burden. That is why 2UP now gives you three self-service tools on the Responsible Gaming page: Pause Betting for a short break, Self-Exclusion for long-term protection, and Bet Limits to cap how much you wager or lose. Each one takes effect the moment you confirm it, with no email or support ticket needed.

This guide explains what each tool does, when to use it, and how to combine them into a plan that works for you.

Pause Betting: take a short break

Pause Betting stops all betting and gaming on your account for a period you choose: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 90 days. It starts immediately after you confirm and ends automatically on the restoration date shown in the form.

During a pause you can still:

  • Log in to your account

  • View your account information

  • Withdraw your available balance

During a pause you cannot:

  • Place new bets in the casino or sportsbook

  • Play any games

  • Cancel the pause early

Before confirming, you tick three statements: the pause cannot be cancelled early, you will not be able to bet or play, and the pause starts immediately. Your page then shows the pause period, start time and estimated restoration time, so you always know when access returns.

Self-Exclusion: long-term protection

Self-Exclusion is for players who want to stop betting and gaming for the long term. It has no end date, applies to all betting and gaming services, and takes effect immediately after you confirm.

How it works:

  1. The first 6 months are locked. You cannot apply to restore your account during this time, whatever the reason.

  2. Nothing reopens automatically. After 6 months, the exclusion stays in place until you act.

  3. Returning requires a review. To resume betting, you submit a restoration request and complete our review. The form shows the earliest date you can apply (for example, an exclusion set on 15 October 2026 can be reviewed from 15 April 2027).

Before confirming, you tick four statements covering each of these points. The design is deliberate: a decision this important should not be undone on impulse.

Bet Limits: set your budget before you play

Bet Limits let you keep playing while capping how much money is at stake. You choose a limit type, an amount and a period:

  • Bet Limit caps the total amount you can wager in the period.

  • Loss Limit caps the total amount you can lose in the period.

  • Periods: Daily, Weekly or Monthly.

Your limit applies immediately and resets at the end of each period, counted from the moment you set it. For example, a daily Loss Limit of 100 USD set at 2 PM today resets at 2 PM tomorrow.

Lowering protection takes time. Any change to or cancellation of a limit only takes effect after a 24-hour cooling-off period. This stops a bad moment from turning into a bigger loss.

Our recommendations

The safest time to set protection is before you need it. We suggest building it up in layers:

  1. Set a budget on day one. Decide what you can comfortably spend each month on entertainment, then add a Monthly Bet Limit for that amount.

  2. Add a Daily Loss Limit. Set it to a small share of your monthly budget, so one bad session cannot use it all.

  3. Use Pause Betting as a reset button. If you break your own rules once, take a 24-hour or 7-day pause rather than trying to recover losses.

  4. Move to Self-Exclusion if the pattern repeats. If limits and pauses are not enough, a long-term break is the right step, not a failure.

  5. Review every month. Check your betting history against your budget. If the numbers surprise you, tighten your limits.

Good habits alongside the tools:

  • Only gamble with money you can afford to lose, never money meant for rent, bills or savings

  • Set a time limit for each session and take regular breaks

  • Never chase losses or borrow to gamble

  • Avoid playing when stressed, upset or after drinking

  • Keep gaming one activity among many: friends, family, sport and rest come first

How to set it up

  1. Log in and select Responsible Gaming in the left menu.

  2. Choose the Self-Exclusion tab for Pause Betting or Self-Exclusion, or the Bet Limits tab for limits.

  3. Select your period, or your limit type, amount and period.

  4. Read and tick each confirmation statement.

  5. Confirm. Your protection is active immediately, and the page shows its start time and end or review date.

Warning signs to watch for

Consider using these tools, or talking to someone, if you notice that you:

  • Spend more money or time gambling than you planned

  • Try to win back losses straight away

  • Hide your gambling from family or friends

  • Borrow money or use bill money to gamble

  • Feel anxious, irritable or low when you are not playing
