2. Understand the Four Main Triggers
Your automation can kick off from four Instagram actions:
Instagram DM Reply
Triggered when someone sends a specific word or phrase via DM.
Instagram Story Reply
Triggered by replies to stories with your chosen "story phrase" CTA.
IG Comment on Post
Triggered when someone comments with a specific CTA on your post.
You can filter by page, post type, and individual post.
IG Comment on Post (Collect Contact Info)
Similar to the standard comment trigger, but used when you want to collect name, email, or phone number.
3. Kick Off the Automation
The automation starts by adding an engagement score and tagging the contact.
Use the "Which Post" condition to branch the automation based on which trigger fired.
4. Add Auto-Responses
Select a DM template to auto-respond to the follower.
Level it up by using the Instagram Interactive Messenger action to:
Send a rich message
Include buttons (like links to booking pages or lead magnets)
Qualify leads based on their button click
5. Combine Comments + DM Automation
Use both a reply comment and a DM follow-up using the Interactive Messenger.
This dual action increases visibility and engagement.
6. Collect Full Contact Info
Use the IG Create Contact branch to:
Start with a reply comment
Follow with a DM asking for name, email, and phone number
Auto-update contact records with their responses
7. End with a Strong CTA
Finish the branch with a clear CTA message using another Interactive Messenger DM.

Use "Reply to DM" in two scenarios:
Initiating a conversation: Respond privately to users who send you a direct message (DM).
Continuing a conversation: Send follow-up messages after an initial "Reply to comment via DM" (DM).

The system checks for an existing conversation within the last 24 hours before sending a Reply to DM. If no recent conversation exists, the message delivery will fail.

To send a comment reply via DM make sure that "Reply Type" is selected as "Reply to comment via DM" for the first action and as "Reply to DM"for all the subsequent actions.

By default, a wait of 1 minute is added, which is editable. If no button is selected, the contact will go to the "Default Timeout" branch.
