6. The "Instagram DM Reply" Triggers when an user on Instagram sends you a specific phrase or word.

7. The "Instagram Story Reply" Trigger follows the same condition. Use this trigger for your "Story Phrase" CTA.

8. The "IG Comment On Post" triggers when a follower comments your CTA on your post. Set your page, post type & even filter down to a specific post.

9. The "IG Comment on Post & Collect Contact" follows the same trigger settings. Use this trigger on posts that you want to collect contact info from commenters.

13. The next level of auto-responses is the "Instagram Interactive Messenger", this action allow you to send a reply & include a linked button. Bump up your message, or add the contact as a lead based on response.

2. Understand the Four Main Triggers

Your automation can kick off from four Instagram actions:

  1. Instagram DM Reply

    • Triggered when someone sends a specific word or phrase via DM.

  2. Instagram Story Reply

    • Triggered by replies to stories with your chosen "story phrase" CTA.

  3. IG Comment on Post

    • Triggered when someone comments with a specific CTA on your post.

    • You can filter by page, post type, and individual post.

  4. IG Comment on Post (Collect Contact Info)

    • Similar to the standard comment trigger, but used when you want to collect name, email, or phone number.

3. Kick Off the Automation

  • The automation starts by adding an engagement score and tagging the contact.

  • Use the "Which Post" condition to branch the automation based on which trigger fired.

4. Add Auto-Responses

  • Select a DM template to auto-respond to the follower.

  • Level it up by using the Instagram Interactive Messenger action to:

    • Send a rich message

    • Include buttons (like links to booking pages or lead magnets)

    • Qualify leads based on their button click

5. Combine Comments + DM Automation

  • Use both a reply comment and a DM follow-up using the Interactive Messenger.

  • This dual action increases visibility and engagement.

6. Collect Full Contact Info

  • Use the IG Create Contact branch to:

    • Start with a reply comment

    • Follow with a DM asking for name, email, and phone number

    • Auto-update contact records with their responses

7. End with a Strong CTA

  • Finish the branch with a clear CTA message using another Interactive Messenger DM.

  • Direct them to take action—book a call, download a guide, or watch a training.
