Exchange: a cryptocurrency that is native to its blockchain and powers it. It is usually used as an incentive for validators who validate transactions on its related blockchain. The related blockchain is a decentralized payment network designed primarily to allow payments of its corresponding exchange token.

DeFi: a cryptocurrency that powers a decentralized exchange ecosystem, a decentralized lending ecosystem, and other decentralized ecosystems except for payment ecosystems (these are included in Exchange tokens).

Stablecoin: a cryptocurrency that aims to have relatively low price volatility and is usually pegged against the US dollar. Most stablecoins pegged against the US dollar are collateralized by US dollars. Some stablecoins pegged against the US dollar are collateralized by cryptocurrencies.

Utility: a cryptocurrency not included in the categories above and that grants access, discounts, governance rights, or ownership to a product or service.
