Surfe now classifies companies using NAICS codes, in addition to the previous industry labels.
This means you can now search and filter companies using:
Industry names (e.g. “Retail”, “Healthcare”)
NAICS codes (e.g. “441110” for New Car Dealers)
Why it matters
🎯 More precise targeting: Filter companies at different levels—from broad sectors to very specific industries
🌍 Standardized data: NAICS is a widely recognised, government-backed classification system
🔍 Better search relevance: Results are ranked and structured based on a clear hierarchy
How it works
When searching in Surfe:
Enter an industry name → Surfe matches it to the closest NAICS categories
Enter a NAICS code → Surfe returns companies within that exact classification
Each result includes a breadcrumb view showing the full hierarchy, for example:
Retail Trade > Motor Vehicle Dealers > New Car Dealers
Do I need to know NAICS codes?
Not at all!
You can continue using plain-language searches like before. NAICS codes are simply an additional option for users who want more precise targeting.
