You can use Google Analytics integration to combine your quantitative data – what users did, with qualitative data – what users said. It allows you to:

  • View every website survey answer as an event tracking;

  • Use responses collected through surveys to create custom segments of visitors in Google Analytics;

  • Collect and utilize valuable information in Google remarketing campaigns;

  • Analyze survey results deeply by segmenting visitors by the source of traffic and behavior.

To collect feedback and send it to Google Analytics, create a website survey from a template or start from scratch. Add your questions, choose your design, or use survey logic.

How to enable the integration

1. Navigate to the Connect tab of your Website or in-product survey, search for Google Analytics, and click on it to move on to the setup:

2. On the next page, click Connect:

❗️If your Google Analytics is installed on the website where a Website or in-product survey is shown to visitors and the survey is answered, then Google Analytics receives an event. It will work correctly if your Google Analytics code is installed on the same website as the survey or surveys from which you'd like to see events in Google Analytics.

❗️Clicking on Connect in the Integrations tab enables sending events to the Google Analytics account whose tracking code is on the webpage where the survey is displayed.

In Settings of this integration, you can choose if you wish to send Survicate data to all Google Analytics trackers or to chosen ones.

If you select Send data to manually specified trackers (advanced), you'll be asked to provide the tracker's Measurement ID. You can find it in your Google Analytics account.

Save the changes after making a choice.

How to send data from Survicate to GA on a survey level

1. Move to the Settings tab of the integration, in the survey's Connect tab:

2. Switch the position of the toggle Send answers to this survey as Google Analytics events. From now on, it will send data to your Analytics.

❗️Please note that you can also disable sending responses from text & comment fields to maintain more clear data.

Viewing your survey in Google Analytics 3 (Universal Analytics)

1. To see your survey data in Google Analytics 3, you need to go to Behavior > Events.

2. You can view surveys on different levels. Please refer to the examples below.

  • Category level – by survey name:

  • Action level – survey question or behavior (such as closing the widget and clicking the call to action):

  • Label level – visitor's answer, call to action content:

❗️Keep in mind that in the case of Contact forms, Survicate only passes the information to GA3 and GA4 about the successful form submission – none of the personally recognizable information is passed to the Google Analytics account.

Finding Google Analytics trackers in Google Tag Manager
