How to create a new survey

In this detailed article you will learn how to create a new survey, set the basic settings, share it and analyze.

After signing in, you will see a list of all your existing surveys and option to create a Survey

Click the “Create survey” button.

You’ll find it on the left, above your list of surveys. A survey creation wizard will open.

Choose how you want to build the survey:

  • From scratch – start completely from scratch; ideal when you know the exact questions you want to ask.

  • From template – select a ready‑made template (e.g., customer satisfaction, HR survey). You can customize the template later.

  • With AI – our AI assistant can build a survey template just for your needs. Specify what you need and the assistant will create you a survey template you can adjust in case of need


Start building your survey with questions

  1. Click the plus icon to open question types menu

2. Choose a question type (single choice, multiple choice, open‑ended, NPS®, point allocation, matrix, etc.).

3. Create the question, answers, display options


Structure the survey into pages (optional)

  • A survey may include an introductory page, one or more pages with questions, and a final thank‑you page.

  • Create a new page via the “+ Add new page” button in the page panel.

  • Rearrange pages by dragging them in the panel or via the context menu; you can also delete pages.


Set survey logic (skip logic):

If you want to show respondents questions based on previous answers, configure logic (conditional skips). This option is available for each question under “Survey logic.”


Customize the appearance (Design):

Logo: on the survey’s intro page, survey page(s) and thank you page click “Add logo” and upload an image to represent your company or project.

  • Colors & Appearance : In the left panel, you can select from one of prebuild templates or design your survey completely based on your preferences to match the company or project brand. Change layouts, background images per whole survey or single page. To match the final design, you can also change the font color, selected and unselected answer color.


Structure the welcome and thank you page:

  • Welcome page: Set the title of the Survey and also additional description (welcome text) if needed. The action button to start the survey can also be changed according to your preferences.

  • Thank you page: Same as with the Welcome page, you can fully customize the thank you page as well. Share final notes to the respondent to your survey according to your needs. Social icons function serves for resharing the survey via social media accounts of the respondents. Do you not want it? Disable it by simply clicking on the icons.


Configure basic survey settings

  • Language: set the language in which the survey system messages appear to respondents.

  • UX settings such as Autoscroll, Return to previous questions and numbering the questions.


Configure advanced shere survey settings

  1. Click on Get responses

  2. Select Share Settings

In the settings you can set:

  • Access and availability - disable the survey or set the data range, the survey is available

  • Duplicate prevention - enable an option, that respondent can submit the survey only once

  • Email notifications - receive an email notification once you receive a new survey submission. Also the report including the response details can be attached in the notification

  • Password protection - protect the survey with a password

  • IP protection - limit the accessibility to limited IP addresses

  • Survey indexing - disable indexing on search engines

  • Website redirect - redirect the respondent to any website, once the person submit the survey


Preview and test

Before publishing, test the survey – click “Preview” and walk through it like a respondent. Check questions, skip logic and design work correctly. See how the survey looks on desktop browser or mobile devices.


Share the survey

In step “Get Responses” select preferable way of survey distribution such as link, QR code, Social Media post, embed survey to web or use email invitation system


Collect and analyse responses

As responses come in: In the “Results” section, analyse answers with charts and tables. Download the individual responses to excel and similar formats. Also you can see the survey summary statistics/performance. Last but not least, you can create your own dashboards and reports. Custom Dashboards function is available in PRO Business plan.
