How to Generate and Manage QR Codes for Your Survio Surveys

QR codes are a powerful tool within the Survio platform for easy survey distribution. Below, we explain how you can generate a QR code for your surveys and manage their functionality even after making updates to the survey design or content.

Generating a QR Code for Your Survey

To generate a QR code:

  1. Open the Survio survey builder.

  2. Navigate to the Responses section.

  3. Select the option to Download QR Code.

The downloaded QR code is directly linked to your specific survey. When someone scans this QR code, it will open the associated survey automatically. This makes it simple to share your survey across various platforms and locations efficiently.

Does the QR Code Change if the Survey is Edited?

Once you’ve generated a QR code for a survey, it remains stable even if you change or update the survey content. This means:

  • The QR code remains valid and will still open the same survey, regardless of any edits to questions, design, or other elements of the survey.

  • You don’t need to reprint or redistribute the QR code if you modify your survey, saving time and effort.- Always test the QR code after generating it to ensure it redirects to the correct survey.

  • Inform respondents to refresh their browser or use an incognito window if they report outdated content.

  • Regenerate and redistribute the QR code if you make significant changes to your survey.

Common QR Code Issues

  1. Incorrect Redirection: The QR code leads to a different survey than intended.

  2. Outdated Survey Content: Changes made to the survey are not visible when accessed via the QR code.

Steps to Fix Incorrect Redirection

If your QR code redirects to the wrong survey, it is likely that the QR code belongs to a different survey. To resolve this:

  1. Open the correct survey in your Survio account.

  2. Navigate to the “Collect responses” tab for that survey.

  3. Generate a new QR code from this tab.

  4. Share the newly generated QR code with your respondents.

Resolving Outdated Survey Content

If updates to your survey are not visible when accessed via a QR code, the issue is typically due to browser caching. The QR code URL always points to the latest version of your survey, but your browser may display a cached copy. To fix this:

  1. Open the survey link from the QR code in an incognito or private browsing window.

  2. Alternatively, clear your browser cache and reload the page.

After following these steps, the updated survey content should appear correctly.
