Preparing Containers:

  • Thoroughly clean containers with dishwashing soap and water.

  • Rinse containers thoroughly to remove any soap residue.

  • Sanitize containers by mixing a quarter cup of bleach with one cup of water. Ensure the sanitizing solution reaches all surfaces.

  • Rinse containers with clean water to remove any remaining bleach solution.

Filling Water Containers:

  • Fill containers to the top with regular tap water. If your tap water is chlorinated, no additional treatment is necessary.

  • For non-chlorinated water sources (e.g., well water), add two drops of unscented liquid household chlorine bleach per gallon of water.

  • Seal containers tightly using the original cap, avoiding contamination by touching the interior.

  • Label containers with the filling date for reference.

  • Store containers in a cool, dark place to maintain water quality.

Maintenance:

Replace stored water every six months if not using commercially bottled water or a water preserver.
