Constraints: Measures

Updated over a year ago

A Measures Constraint, sometimes also referred to as a managerial constraint, is considered an Internal Constraint related to how your organization measures the success, failure, or process (i.e., data) for the relevant Challenge.

Here are some examples of Measures Constraints:

  • Any assumptions, holdovers, external requirements, or limitations by the business on the current scenario.

  • Stopping after each patient’s visit to record the symptoms and diagnosis given, as well as any medication and/or concerns for the next visit.

  • Recording all relevant and/or available information on every potential sales lead.

Hints:

Does tracking specific data drive behaviors that are in opposition to organizational goals?

Having extra data that is not a driver in your solution is better than not having enough data but beware of extra costs to your organization such as time spent distracted on non-relevant data that could otherwise be spent toward achieving your goal.
