Introduction

Sometimes the template you started with doesn’t feel like the right fit. Instead of being locked in, the Swiftwebsites.ai builder allows you to create a brand new website with a fresh template, without losing your existing work. This flexibility means you can experiment with different designs, keep older sites as backups, and switch between versions as your project evolves.

Creating a New Website with a Different Template

  • In your dashboard, click the Create New Website button.

  • You’ll be asked to select a template from the template library.

  • Preview designs until you find one that fits your new direction.

  • Enter a site name (e.g., “Website 2”) and choose a brand color.

  • Click Submit to generate your new website.

Managing Multiple Websites in a Project

  • Both your original and new websites remain inside the same project.

  • The new website may appear inactive or grayed out by default.

  • To switch:

    • Inactivate your current website.

    • Activate the new one you just created.

  • This makes the new template live while keeping your old site available in the background.

Reusing Content from Older Websites

  • Keep your old website active in the project as a reference.

  • Copy sections, text, or elements from the old site into your new one.

  • This way you don’t lose valuable content, even when switching to a completely new design.

Cloning and Testing Templates

  • You can clone an existing website to create variations for testing.

  • Use clones to experiment with different layouts, branding, or content.

  • Switch between active websites at any time to decide which one works best for your goals.

Best Practices

  • Preview templates carefully before creating a new site to ensure it matches your vision.

  • Keep old websites available until you’re certain you don’t need them anymore.

  • Copy over important content (like text, images, forms) from older sites into new designs.

  • Experiment with clones to test new ideas without affecting your live website.

  • Switch activations strategically - Activate only when you’re ready to make the new design public.

Quick Workflow Recap

  • Click Create New Website

  • Select a new template, name it, and set brand colors

  • Save and generate your new site

  • Inactivate the old site and activate the new one

  • Copy content from old to new as needed

  • Clone versions to test different design ideas
