The technology behind the entire crypto world is the blockchain, which makes transactions transparent. Blockchain may seem like a knotty technology out of science fiction, but we’ll help you get up to speed.

Think of the chain as a fully secure "ledger" and each block as a "page" filled with highly accurate records of every crypto movement. If someone buys a crypto coin, information about it instantly appears on the "page" and is saved forever. No one can edit, delete, change, or revise this fact — only view it.

Thanks to blockchain, there are no intermediaries like bankers involved in the movement of crypto. Information is transferred directly to the "ledger", and anyone can verify that the transaction has taken place.

But blockchain goes far beyond crypto. It has the potential to become a platform for entirely fair elections, smart document management, and credit systems that work without banks.
