How to Study

Synaptiq will provide a flashcard on the screen for you to tackle. Depending on how you like to learn, you may mentally or verbally answer the question and select "Reveal Answer" (you may also press the SPACEBAR ). The answer to the card is then revealed.

Next, assess how you performed on the question. While you may have two, three, or four rating options depending on your preferences, here is a general guideline of how to rate your performance:

  • Right - You got the question right.

  • Wrong - You got the question wrong.

  • Easy - You got the question right, and it was easy.

  • Again - You got the question wrong, and it was very difficult.

After rating your performance, another card will appear. Continue to answer and rate the cards' difficulty as you move through the deck. Depending on how you rated a card, you will see that card again at varying intervals. Cards you rated as "Wrong" or "Again" will appear sooner than "Right" or "Easy" cards per the principle of spaced repetition.

The counters on the top right of the screen show how many cards are remaining for that session. You may leave a session at any time, and any progress you’ve made up to that point will be saved.

Undo a Rating Response

If you accidentally rated a card differently than intended, you can press Z to undo the rating. Alternatively, you can access Undo Response from the card menu in the bottom left corner.

Editing Cards

You can edit cards you own directly from the study screen by pressing E or by using the card menu in the bottom left corner. After making your edits, save the changes by pressing CMD/CTRL+ENTER or by pressing the “Update” button.

Reporting a Card

If you are studying a Synaptiq-curated deck, you can report cards if they contain mistakes or inaccuracies. Press R or select the Report Card option from the card menu in the bottom left corner. Please provide as much detail as possible regarding your reason for reporting the card.

Starring a Card

Starring a card is a form of card tagging. Deck Owners can Star (and Unstar) a card by pressing S or by selecting the Star option from the card menu in the bottom left corner.
