Overview

Synaptiq offers a robust set of card-creating capabilities through the Builder. You can add and style text, include links and images, and apply formatting.

Card Types

There are currently two types of cards you can create with Builder:

  • Front/Back (Default) - A simple card with a front and back-side.

  • Cloze (Fill-in-the-Blank) - A statement with a blank that learners need to fill in.

Creating Cloze Cards

To create a cloze card, write a sentence or statement in the left editor. Highlight a word or phrase, and then press CTRL/CMD+1 to turn that phrase into a blank. You may also use the […] icon in the toolbar to select your cloze group. You can create up to nine individual cloze fields within a single card. Additionally, one card could have multiple blanks associated with the same group. When you click Create Card, Card Builder will generate all necessary permutations of the blanks.

When you create a cloze card, the right editor changes from Back to Extra. The extra section can be used to add additional information about the card that will be shown once the card has been flipped.

Adding Hints to Cloze Cards

If you wish to provide a hint to the answer for a cloze card, you may click inside the answer and hit CTRL/CMD+H . You can then type the hint you want on the right side of the pipe ( | ).

Keyboard Shortcuts

Here are the keyboard shortcuts available on the Builder page:

  • CTRL/CMD+ENTER Create Card

  • CTRL/CMD+1-9 Create Cloze Group

  • CTRL/CMD+H Add Cloze Hint
